Stella by Starlight

Stella by Starlight, by Sharon M. Draper is about Stella. She lives in the segregated South of Bumblebee, North Carolina. One night, Stella is up later than usual when she sees the first signs of change. She witnesses a meeting of the Ku Klux Klan. Stella learns that she must stay strong, even as people are suppressed and quieted with fire.
I think this book really opens your eyes. To see this kind of thing through a young girl's point of view is very different. I fell in love with Stella and her community instantly, as I think you will too. The lessons learned were also very important. I would recommend this book.
