I read the book Monument 14 - Savage Drift by Emmy Laybourne.  This book is realistic fiction because there are real events that can happen.  Many natural disasters can happen in real life.  We start with kids getting trapped in a superstore because of a hailstorm that destroyed their bus.  They soon enough got rescued and are stuck in a camp without their parents.  The main characters, Dean, Jake, Astrid and Niko attempt to sneak out of the camp to help deliver Astrid's baby.  While they embark on the journey, there have been reports of a savage drift, a dust cloud that blocks out oxygen for the humans to breath.  While, these main characters look out for the drifts, they are also looking for their friend Josie, who went missing before they got to the camp.  Will the four friends be able to find Josie and deliver the baby on time? Read Monument 14 - Savage Drift to find out.
Emmy Laybourne ended the series with a BANG!! The book is full of action, cliffhangers and more!  Many parts of the story will leave you laughing then crying two pages later.  Not to mention the funny, sarcastic comments left by the characters.  Monument 14 - Savage Drift also included relatable characters with relatable events throughout the third book in the series.  This book is a must-read.  Honestly, the whole series is a must-read.  Make sure over the summer or next year you check-out Monument 14, Monument 14 - Sky on Fire, and Monument 14 - Savage Drift.  You’ll enjoy it.
