The Martian by Andy Weir

The Martian by Andy Weir

Image result for the martian book     At the beginning of the year, I read The Martian by Andy Weir. It's a science fiction novel because the book mostly takes place on Mars. So, this book is about Mark Watney, a astronaut who has traveled to Mars in 2035 on the Ares III mission. He becomes stranded on the planet after a unexpected dust storm. He has to use his botany skills, mechanical engineering skills, and pure ingenuity to survive. He tries many different things, like colonizing Mars by growing potatoes so he can eat, and modifying one of the rovers so he can travel to get to an unused landing platform for the next Mars mission, Ares IV. He also goes through many set backs in his plans like weather and even injury. Will Mark be able to use his ideas to survive the harsh planet of Mars?
Personally, this is probably my favorite book of all time, being a science fiction fan myself. The Martian has elements of drama, humor, and even though the book takes place on Mars, and even includes technology NASA hasn't invented yet, there are characters you can relate to. An example of Mark's humor in the book is when he is working and he says that duct tape is magic and duct tape should be worshipped. This is definitely more of a mature book, and has some rude humor. Overall, I recommend this book to Science Fiction lovers, or anyone who is looking for a good and interesting read.
