The book that I read was called In Real Life by Joey Graceffa. This book is an autobiography, and I know this because Joey wrote the book about himself. The book starts out with Joey sharing how his life was when he was little. There are a few chapters in the beginning that explain how Joey's childhood was very tough. His mom had a bad alcohol problem, and his dad would always make Joey be on sports teams when Joey's interests were drawn towards other things. His parents were also having marriage problems, which had a huge impact on his childhood. The next couple of chapters tell about Joey's elementary school and high school experience. Joey tells us about his struggles in elementary school with his classes and how he started to become a victim of bullying. Then, he tells us about high school, and how he still got bullied. But, he found a few ways to stay happy by being in shows, and finding great friends. At this point in the book, Joey started to realize that he was gay. This book is a semi-mature book, but it is a great one to read because it explains how to deal with bullying, his parent's problems, his love life, and how he started his YouTube channel.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone over the age of ten. This book can be very mature for younger readers. I loved reading this book for many different reasons. To start off, this book is great to read if you're going through a tough time and need to accept yourself. This book shows that it is okay to be different, specifically if you are afraid to say if you are gay or not. Also, this book is great to read if your parents are having problems at home. Joey goes into full detail on how to help yourself and your parents. Lastly, this book is great because it shows how to deal with bullying. Joey wrote a couple of pages in his book that have tips on how to deal with bullying. This book can really help anyone who is struggling with any of these problems, and many more. I like this book because it is very relatable and it is truly inspiring.
