Artemis Fowl By Eion Colfer

Over this past year I read the book Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer.  Artemis Fowl is a fantasy book.  I know this because there are fairies in the book and fairies are not real.  As a warning, if you don't want to have the book spoiled for you don't read the rest of this paragraph.  In the exposition,  Artemis is trying to capture a fairy and he meets with one to get their ancient book which describes their culture.  Artemis, who is a young genius, takes a photo copy of the book back to his large house and deciphers the whole book.  Then in the rising action Artemis and his bodyguard/ butler, named Butler, try to capture a fairy from the the Lower Elements Police, or LEP, to try to get that fairies ransom in gold.  He stalks out places where fairies might be, and finally he catches a fairy named Holly Shorts.  He takes her back to his house and puts her in a prison cell in the basement.  In the climax, all the forces of the LEP come and try to get Holly out of the house, but they have a hard time because a fairy can not enter a human's house without an invitation.  The LEP then puts up a magic time shield which stops time in a certain spot.  Then Artemis asks the fairy commander for the ransom in gold.  Then the LEP gives it to him.  In the falling action the LEP wants the gold back so they try to bio bomb the house, but somehow, Artemis escaped the time shield and therefore the bio bomb.  In the resolution, Holly escapes the bio bomb to and returns to the LEP.  The LEP gives up and respectfully let Artemis keep the gold.  Then Artemis finds out that his mom, who was sick a t the time and was going crazy, was healed when Holly escaped the Bio bomb.  That is what happened in my book.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes long fantasy series.  That is because the characters are funny and lovable.  Also,  There is a lot of humor, as well fun adventure like when Artemis surprises Holly by speaking fluent fairy language.  Also the main character is evil in this book, so that makes this book unique. Also the main character is kind of relatable because he is about the age of a seventh grader.  Plus there is a ton of magic.  That is why I would recommend Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer.
