Artemis Fowl and the Lost Colony by Eoin Colfer

Artemis Fowl and the Lost Colony is the fifth book in the Artemis Fowl series, its fantasy genre due to the vast majority of mythical creatures such as trolls, dwarfs, sprites, elves, centaurs, fairies, demons, pixies, and numerous others. In this book, demons are popping up out of thin air They are transporting from a sort of limbo where the demon species is stuck in time and space. The time spell is unraveling and soon the demons will be popping up everywhere in front of human eyes and there will be no way to protect them. Artemis Fowl, a fourteen year old boy genius who has rare human knowledge of the fairies, otherwise known as the People, is out to track them down. But the reason isn't why you might think. Artemis is trying to preserve the species and get to the demons before humans can lock the demons up in laboratories or take away their freedom. The only problem is, Foaly the centaur and human Minerva Paradizo are also looking for the demons. Except Minerva has other things in mind. She kidnapped an imp (the starting stage of a demon before it warps and turns into a fully-grown demon) named N°1 so that she could study the demon and win a Nobel Prize. Little does she know that Artemis has a plan in store for her and every demon stuck in limbo. What will happen as the fate of the demons and the secrecy of mythical creatures hangs in the balance? Can Artemis save the demons and out-smart his toughest opponent yet―― a fellow genius?
In my opinion, this book is outstanding and really captures what it means to "meet your match" through witty characters who are clever and are put into unique scenarios. This book is my favorite that I've read this year because because the writing is amazing and the author makes the characters humorous with phrases such as "it's not as if you're a beauty queen." Also, I love how in this book, Artemis finally turns good once and for all, which is represented by when Butler tries to talk Artemis out of his dangerous plans by telling him that he sounds like a good guy. Finally, Artemis Fowl and the Lost Colony has a surprise ending that leaves both the characters and the readers astonished as shown by when Artemis is stunned and Foaly tries to fill the "shocked silence" with information. To conclude, I would definitely recommend reading this book along with the rest of the Artemis Fowl series―― just maybe think about reading the first four books before attempting to read Artemis Fowl and the Lost Colony.
