Nory Ryan’s Song Blog By Patricia Reilly Giff

They’re dead and he’s gone! How will we live? Where has he gone? These thoughts and questions are standing up and running around in Nory Ryan’s head. She has to take responsibility. She has to take charge, but how? Nory is the main character of this astonishing book called Nory Ryan’s Song by Patricia Reilly Giff. If you read the book, you’ll see she’s responsible in many different, remarkable ways.
One time it wasn’t even her duty, but she still does what she thinks is right. One day her friend, Cat, and Cat’s mom are watching their diminutive house being destroyed in front of them. Their eyes were overflowing with tears and their souls were overflowing with wretchedness. They couldn’t pay for the house. Nory takes care of the situation and resolves their conflict. Read this book to see how Nory handles this problem and others’ problems.
Personally I really enjoyed this book.  This book takes place in the 1840’s; it’s about a girl going through some tough challenges early in her life. Nory is really being strong because she carries others’ burdens. Sometimes it’s right to do things to help others even though you may not enjoy doing it, like Nory did to save her friend Cat.  I recommend this book to girls because the protagonist is feminine. Read this phenomenal book by Patricia Reilly Giff.
