The Lovely Bones By Alice Sebold

Can you imagine being kidnapped and raped by your elder neighbor who you and your family thought was harmless?  Can you imagine screaming at the top of your lungs for help, but nobody can hear you?  Hearing your mother call out your name, “Susie it is time for dinner,” over and over again, and you scream, “MOM,” but she can’t hear you.
Well, unfortunately for fourteen-year-old Susie Salmon, she didn’t have to imagine what it would be like.   She lived it.  Walking home from a nice day at school, turned into a frightening day, ending in the arms of a disturbed, pedophiliac man.  Since she was kidnapped and locked underground for hours with a man who just kept getting stranger and stranger; she hit rock bottom.
Without giving too much away, Susie decides to take a never-returning trip to a place called heaven.  She watches her friends at school talk about her and her disappearance; she watches over her family as they grieve about their loss; she watches her killer cover up his tracks when no one is looking; she watches over the cornfield where her life changed forever.
I really like this book because it is full of suspense.  Alice Sebold writes with such great detail. I would rate this book is four out of five stars because sometimes it is a little disturbing, but in a good way.  I would recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery and horror.  If you read this book, you won’t be able to put it down!
