The Scorch Trials by James Dashner

How would you feel if you discovered that you had a deadly disease inside you? How would you feel if you had to venture into a dangerous world just to get rid of this virus? This is what happens in the second book in The Maze Runner series, The Scorch Trials by James Dashner. The genre of this book is science fiction because it has a futuristic setting and tools. The book focuses on Thomas and the Gladers, a group of strong fighters and fast runners. They have recently escaped the Maze, a large area they were mysteriously sent to; and home to monsters called Grievers. After returning to Earth, the Gladers discover that the world is in danger of being wiped out completely! Why? Because of the deadly virus called the Flare. The Flare is infecting people and making them into insane, mindless things called Cranks. When the virus reaches its peak, the infected will eventually die. The virus has already taken many lives. In fact, the virus has affected Thomas and all his friends and fellow Gladers too! Thomas and the Gladers may be the only ones left to save the world. To do this, the Gladers must enter "The Scorch," a desert like place. They must get to a "Safe Haven" at the end of "The Scorch" within two weeks and will receive a cure. If they don't, they will fall as another victim of the Flare. So, the group journeys into the Scorch. They will make new allies. They will also be challenged with dangers, threats, lies, and betrayals. Can they make it? Or will the Flare slowly take them out?
In my own opinion, this is definitely a good read. I liked the book since I enjoyed all of the action and suspense of the book. Also, I enjoyed the first book in the series. So the question is: is this the book for you? I'd say yes if you are a fan of science fiction or action/adventure styled books. James Dashner creates many exciting and suspenseful moments. However, you should NOT read this book if you have not read the first Maze Runner book. Some moments may be confusing to you if you have not read The Maze Runner. To conclude, James Dashner creates a great adventure for readers to experience, and you should check it out (as long as you have read the first Maze Runner book)!
