The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien is an enchanting fantasy tale that follows the journey of a cranky hobbit named Bilbo Baggins, a wizard named Gandalf, and a band of twelve dwarves. This story takes place in a land called The Shire, where hobbits live in peace, the dwarf land of Dale, and Mirkwood, a mystical forest populated with dark beings. I know The Hobbit is a fantasy book due to the appearances of many fantasy creatures, including elves, dwarves, hobbits, and more. Gandalf was a wizard determined to help the dwarves find their leader Thorin's long lost family treasure. This treasure had been stolen from Thorin's family long ago by a dragon named Smaug, who wiped out the dwarves and took Thorin's royal family's castle, banishing dwarves from remaining in the surrounding land. While on their quest, the dwarves and Bilbo are ambushed by the goblins and their king, where Bilbo discovered a ring that could turn him invisible. Using this tool, he slipped away from the goblins and reunited with the dwarves and Gandalf, who'd spent an awfully long amount of time fighting off goblins in order to escape. Fortunately, this ring stayed with Bilbo throughout the rest of their quest, ending up being helpful when Bilbo was forced to confront Smaug on the topic of Thorin's family treasure. Will Bilbo manage to retrieve Thorin's treasure by slipping past Smaug? Find out by reading this book!
I would most definitely recommend this book to others for several reasons. One of these reasons would be that this story is packed with action and tends to be very suspenseful at the appropriate times. Another important thing is that the fantasy element of this book is made very clear in this book, with all sorts of fantasy creatures and all sorts of magic - such as Bilbo's ring. It's extremely fascinating to read the descriptions of such complex and eye-catching creatures. Another factor in this story that attracted me to it was the excruciating amount of detail written throughout the story. The amazing amount of detail about each part of the story was very immersing, making readers feel like they truly were in the story. It was such an interesting and original concept, the characters, especially Bilbo, were relatable, and very well written. For these many reasons, I recommend this book to everyone. Reading this book was an incredibly enjoyable experience and I personally look forward to reading The Lord of the Rings very soon!
