Unwholly

My favorite book I read this year is Unwholly, by Neal Shusterman.  It is the second book in the Unwind Dystology.  The genre of this book is dystopian fiction because unruly teenagers are taken and surgically dismantled for their parts, which are used to help other people.  The story starts off at the Graveyard, where everything is peaceful.  Connor steps up to be the main leader of the Graveyard.  He realizes that the airplanes being sent to them at the Graveyard contain fewer people and fewer supplies every time.  This leads Connor to believe that the Juvey-cops are getting better at catching AWOL Unwinds than before.  Connor fears that the Juvey-cops had also found the location of the Graveyard and he plans to relocate immediately.  Before he can even begin to relocate, they are invaded by juvey-cops.  The Graveyard is chaos.  Some people attempt to escape in airplanes, while others run like maniacs.  During the chaos, Lev sneaks into the Graveyard and rescues Connor.  They escape to a model home.  There, Connor discovers a guy named Jason Reignschild, who is responsible for inventing the technology behind Unwinding.  Mr. Reignschild did not want his technology to be used for this, but it was, and he was erased from the internet and history.  The book ends with Connor and Lev at a diner, when two Juvey-cops barge in looking for AWOL Unwinds.  A kind waitress gives Connor and Lev her car keys to escape, and people begin to question the morality of unwinding.
In my opinion, this book is amazing and I really enjoyed reading it.  I really liked it because it's full of surprises and plot twists that the reader is definitely not expecting.  I also loved this book because of the characters' personalities and how they are all somewhat similar and also different at the same time.  The way each character interacted with each other is what made the story interesting.  Finally, this book was so detailed, and I could picture every sentence of every page in my mind.  I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys dystopian fiction and anyone who enjoys a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
