"The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins a thrilling dystopian book because the book takes place in the future and explores social and political structures with the Capitol of Panem. "The Hunger Game" is the first book in the Hunger Games series with "Catching Fire" and "Mockingjay" following behind it. Each year the Capitol of Panem chooses one boy and one girl from each of the twelve districts to participate in the televised event called the Hunger Games. The tributes are ripped away from their families and forced to go on a train and prepare for the big event if they don't follow orders someone might die. All of Panem watches all the tributes on tv fight to the death in the arena until there is one left standing. The arena each year is a different biome or environment which comes with its struggles for the tributes to survive. The 74th Hunger Games is in the woods. Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist, is district twelve's girl tribute. She makes this Hunger Games one to remember with Peeta Mellark. She is furious about what the Capital is doing to everyone and "doesn't want to just be a part of their games." Katniss uses her sly hunting skills to survive in the arena but also has to consider her survival with her star-crossed lover, Petta.
I would hands-down recommend the Hunger Games to anyone wanting to read an action-packed adventure that will leave you wanting to read more. The first reason I recommend this book is at the end of each chapter there is a cliffhanger leaving you wanting to read chapter after chapter. Another reason I recommend this book would be that Katniss has to face Peeta who is in love with her. Throughout the games, she feels obligated to protect him because he was found hurt. This makes it suspenseful with more action on each page with Katniss never knowing if he will survive the night. Finally, during the Hunger Games, Katniss is rebelling with the Capitol and its strict rules and fragile structure. President Snow is mad at Katniss for making mistakes and saying things that make people realize that the Capitol isn't treating their citizen's right. This makes the story more interesting because throughout the book Katniss and President have an unsolvable tension between them. Overall, I suggest the Hunger Games and the Hunger Games series to anyone because it makes you want to read more, its an action-packed story, and it is really interesting.
