The Selection is the first book of the Selection series written by Kiera Cass. It is a Dystopian/Romance book because the people are rated into castes by the government. It is also romance because it's a competition to see who is going to marry the prince. At the beginning of the book, America(the main character) is sent a letter from the prince, that says that she is eligible to be in a competition to become his bride and princess. America then chooses to go after saying goodbye to her own boyfriend Aspen. After America stays in the castle for a while, she finds that she starts to fall in love with Prince Maxon. The girls are starting to get eliminated, and the competition is becoming very tense. In the end, Maxon picks six girls, to become the Elite. If they are chosen, then that means that they will stay in the competition to see if they could possibly become royalty.
I would definitely recommend this book because the suspense and tension will always keep you on the edge of your seat. There are many unsuspected twists, turns, and surprises. My favorite thing about this book is that not only is it an adorable love story, that you shouldn't miss, but after reading this book, you will most likely want to continue the series!
