Divergent by Veronica Roth

The book Divergent is a fantasy book written by Veronica Roth. This adventurous book is about a girl named Tris who has to chose between five factions to be in when she turns 16, just like every other 16-year old. Their choices are based on their results of the aptitude test, which tests what your instincts are. The choices are Abnegation, which means you're selfness, Dauntless, which means you're brave, Erudite, which is for the people with knowledge, Amity, which is the peaceful faction, and finally Candor, which means honest. Tris's test tells her she is Divergent which means she is different than other people. Everyone thinks Divergents are dangerous, so Tris has to keep it a secret. At the choosing ceremony, she chooses Dauntless. She goes through training and needs to place based upon her fighting skills or else she will become faction-less. Through the training, she meets Four who is also Divergent and they fight together when Candor makes a serum that controls everyone, but Divergents.

I absolutely loved this book, I could never put it down. It was super suspenseful and would leave me hanging each chapter, making me want to know what was going to happen. This books theme was to work together and never give up. When Four was manipulated and couldn't reconize Tris, Tris kept trying to get him back and get him to remember her again. After not giving up, she finally got him to get back to his old self. The setting of this book was like a real world setting. One scene was on the boardwalk where the Dauntless faction was playing capture the flag. If you enjoy suspenseful, adventurous books, Divergent will be perfect for you!!
