Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins is the second book in The Hunger Games series. Coming off the very unexpected events of the previous Hunger Games, this year marks the 75th games, meaning that they will have a "Quarter Quell" staring 24 of the past winners of the other games. Having that Katniss, Peeta, and Haymitch are the only alive winners from District 12, Katniss for sure is going in, and Peeta takes Haymitch's place having him go in again as well. A boy and girl from every other district has been selected, included the well known Finnick Odair and Johanna Mason. Quickly to learn, Katniss sees the tough competition and the fiercest competitors out there. Katniss and Peeta must carefully choose who to align with in order to survive. Katniss must figure out what the capital is planning, before it's too late.
This book is the perfect action novel with a strong female hero. Personally, I enjoyed the action and plot of this book a little bit more than the first book in the series. You'll learn more about the tributes from the other districts, and soon pick your favorites and who you want to survive. Also, it takes you deeper into the complicated relationship between Katniss and Peeta, and how they will sort out their true feelings and intentions while being pressured by the game and the Capitol to survive.
