Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Image result for catching fire

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins is the second book in The Hunger Games series. Coming off the very unexpected events of the previous Hunger Games, this year marks the 75th games, meaning that they will have a "Quarter Quell" staring 24 of the past winners of the other games. Having that Katniss, Peeta, and Haymitch are the only alive winners from District 12, Katniss for sure is going in, and Peeta takes Haymitch's place having him go in again as well. A boy and girl from every other district has been selected, included the well known Finnick Odair and Johanna Mason. Quickly to learn, Katniss sees the tough competition and the fiercest competitors out there. Katniss and Peeta must carefully choose who to align with in order to survive. Katniss must figure out what the capital is planning, before it's too late.

This book is the perfect action novel with a strong female hero. Personally, I enjoyed the action and plot of this book a little bit more than the first book in the series. You'll learn more about the tributes from the other districts, and soon pick your favorites and who you want to survive. Also, it takes you deeper into the complicated relationship between Katniss and Peeta, and how they will sort out their true feelings and intentions while being pressured by the game and the Capitol to survive.

Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett

Classic movie fanatic Bailey "Mink" Rydell has spent months crushing on a film nerd she only knows online by "Alex." Two coasts separate them until Bailey moves in with her dad after an unfortunate incident, who lives in the same California surfing town as her online crush.
Thoughts run through Bailey's mind like, what if he's a creep in real lifeBailey doesn't tell Alex she's moved to his hometown. Or that she's landed a job at the local tourist museum on the boardwalk. Or that she's being irritated daily by the annoyingly good looking museum security guard, Porter Roth - a.k.a. her new frenemy. But life gets a whole lot more complicated, especially when Bailey discovers the fine line between hate, love, and whatever she's starting to feel for Porter. As the summer months go by, Bailey must choose whether to cling on to the dreamy online relationship with Alex or take a risk on an unfamiliar new life with Porter. But here's the catch, Bailey doesn't know it, but Porter Roth is hiding a secret of his own: Porter is Alex.
This is absolutely the PERFECT summer read. I just recently bought this book from Barnes and Noble and I instantly fell in love with the plot and the whole idea of the book. Every girl will love Bailey's quirky and relatable personality, and you will drool over Porter and all of his perfect imperfections. You won't regret picking up this book.

To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han

Lara Jean keeps love letters to all the boys she's ever loved in a teal hatbox given to her by her mother, who passed away. Whether the boys were serious crushes or simply boys who were nice to her at summer camp, if she loved them, they had a letter. No one, but Lara Jean, knew of these letters, or so she thought. One day, her letters get all mailed out and suddenly Lara Jean is thrown into a whirlwind of drama and all of the boys she's loved before, now know. Will she be faced with the embarrassment of unwanted rejection, or will one boy love her back?

Jenny Han is a wonderful writer who, in my opinion, knows how to write the perfect girl coming of age book that is sure to pull on your heartstrings. Her characters are always relatable. She is somehow able to take all of the feelings that teenage girls feel and perfectly deliver them into a character that is very well developed. If you pick this book up, I know you won't regret it.

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

Image result for twilight book

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer is the first book in the world-famous Twilight trilogy. This fantasy novel is about an ordinary girl, Bella Swan, coming to move in with her father in her old home town of Forks. Always raining, never sunny, this town is bleak. And so are the students... until Bella sees the very beautiful, very perfect Cullen's, a family of vampires that no one knows about. When Bella is partnered up with Edward Cullen for Biology she is beyond intrigued. Although he is very serious and more than slightly unapproachable, Bella needs to know more about him. Her curiousity and his unstaoppable feelings pull them into something forbidden and dangerous. He has secrets, secrets that can put Bella's life in danger. But she finds out his secrets , and the scary part is, she still wants to be with him. Throw a cute childhood friend, Jacob in the mix, and Bella's feelings are thrown for a spin.

I happen to love this book, contrary to popular opinion. This is definitely a sappy girlie book, and I personally love stuff like that. I can't force you to like this book, but I hope you'll try it out and not judge it right away. I hope you'll get thrown into this world of Vampires and Werewolves and enjoy it. I'm team Edward by the way...

Raven's Gate by : Anthony Horowitz

Imagine you are arrested for an accidental crime. Your parents have died and you have weird powers. That's the situation Matt is in. Raven's Gate is a suspenseful book by Anthony Horowitz. The deeper you get in to the book, the more mysteries awaken. You have to read this book. I would give it a 4/5 star rating book due to how the sequence of events played out. It doesn't seem relatable.
The book is about a boy named Matt who gets caught in a crime. Can't tell you the crime it explains the story later on. Matt is sent to live in a foster home with a very weird lady. The book explains stuff about paranormal activity in this town, sudden deaths, and even recurring paths. This is the perfect fantasy/science fiction book for kids to read.
